We ask our clients about their Values...

....Feel free to get to know Ours!

OUR VALUES

The Center for Active Minds embraces being a clinic that offers transparent, empirically-based therapy and evaluations for toddlers, pre-k, children, teens, young adults, and adults, from mental health professionals that specialize in one or two areas. We strive to provide a comfortable environment that does not resemble a medical office setting.  We collaborate with clients and their parents to provide individualized therapeutic techniques that focus on the whole client (e.g., eating habits, sleeping behavior) and their context (working with parents and/or teachers), and implementing services tailored to our clients’ strengths based on their needs.

In a profession driven by empathy, we believe human nature is innately good and productive. We operate from a model of understanding that clients want to develop self-awareness and improvements in daily functioning and our job is to provide the expertise making those changes by working collaboratively with them to help them achieve their goals. We recognize that we are only one part of a care team.

Why TransparencyProviding transparent information means that you have the best opportunity to make informed decisions about what is right for you and your family.

Why Evidence-BasedProviding evidence-based services means that you are most likely to success in achieving your therapy goals, and provides us with the most confidence that you are receiving an accurate diagnosis

Why SpecializeProviding specialized services means that your provider knows a lot about the specific diagnosis or impairment that you are seeking services for, which we believe increases their effectiveness in working with you on that area of impairment.

Why Collaborate?  We believe that clients make good decisions - especially when provided transparent information - and that clients are the experts in their family or their functioning.

OUR MISSION

Dr. Sarah created this Center in response to community members--parents, school personnel, and pediatricians--sharing their struggles of finding a reputable therapist or psychologist in the area that work with children.

Over time, Dr. Sarah also learned that parents of children with ADHD struggled to find evidence-based evaluations and therapy for themselves. In response to this, Dr. Sarah built upon her training in working therapeutically with adults to completed training in evidence-based practices for adults with ADHD, which is fairly consistent foudationally to services provided to kids with ADHD, and has expanded to offer adult-focused services as well.

Dr. Sarah's goal in creating this center is to help families have a community resource they feel comfortable utilizing for their children, teens, and for themselves.  The Center for Active Minds is committed to making this struggle easier for families by providing local, empirically-based services through therapists who have been specifically trained in providing evaluations, assessments, and therapy to children and teens.  Our overarching goal as a Center is to help our clients become the best versions of themselves that they can be, with a therapist who feels honored in being a part of having their clients accomplish their goals.

We understand that raising kids, and taking care of each other, "takes a village".  As such, part of our mission is to give back to the community, by holding engaging educational events to teach the community members more about ADHD and Anxiety, how to recognize it, and what to do about it, and running a Lemonade Stand to raise money for childhood cancer research.
